Motorcycle Upgrades for Cross-Country Riding

Posted on: 3 March 2019

One of the reasons that some people buy their first motorcycle is for cross-country riding trips. They offer an easy way to travel without large fuel expenses and while managing to pack light. One of the key components that new motorcyclists overlook is having the right upgrades and gear to make the trip as easy as possible. Here are a few upgrades and new options from motorcycle dealers and on used motorcycles as well.

Luggage Brackets

You may believe that all you need is a good set of saddlebags for your motorcycle. The truth is, you need to talk to your motorcycle dealers about luggage brackets. If you are going on a cross-country riding trip, you need to have your personal duffel bag or lightweight camping gear attached to your motorcycle. Saddlebags will not hold all the things you need, no matter how light you pack. A solid stainless steel luggage bracket can be attached to the motorcycle, including vintage or used motorcycles. They can hold one to two duffel bags or a duffel and lightweight camping gear set easily.

Expedition Tent and Brackets

An expedition tent is quickly becoming a must-have for many cross-country riding enthusiasts. These tents can come with attachments for your motorcycle. They are lightweight, and they can be easily removed and set up in a variety of locations. The expedition tents generally open to reveal a sleeping compartment on one side, an area for showering or eating on the other side and an area in the middle to cover your motorcycle. These are ideal tent options if you plan on overnight camping at parks, camp areas or even at beach and lake areas.

Tire Gauges and Repair Kit

You never know what you will run into on your cross-country travels. One issue that can really set you back is having an issue with your tires. Part of the reason this can be an issue is that, unlike a car or truck, carrying a spare is not an option. For this reason, you should carry a tire gauge and a repair kit in your saddlebags. This may not repair the tire fully, but it can keep you on the road until you can get to motorcycle dealers or mechanics in the area to do a full repair or replacement.

These are just a few of the motorcycle upgrades you will want to consider for cross-country riding and travel. Remember, most motorcycle dealers will offer some or all of these upgrades in their dealerships. They can also attach these upgrades for you to prevent possible damage to your motorcycle. If you are ready to get started, contact your local dealership for their line of upgrades that fit your new or used motorcycle.
